She was to compete in the 2007 Miss USA pageant but was dethroned in December 2006 following the release of sexually charged pictures of her taken at a Florida nightclub three years prior.

One month prior to Swann winning her title, Smith won the Miss Tennessee USA 2007 title, and thus both competed against each other at the Miss USA 2007 pageant.
She did not place at Miss USA 2007, which was won by Rachel Smith of Tennessee.
She was one of three Miss Teen USA 2001 delegates that competed at Miss USA 2007, the others being Erin O'Kelley of North Carolina and Gloria Almonte of New York (who placed first runner-up at Miss Teen USA 2001).
