In 1992, Graham-Dixon won the first prize in the Reportage section in the Montreal World Film Festival for a documentary film about Théodore Géricault's painting The Raft of the Medusa.

The film was awarded "Best Documentary" at the 2008 Montréal World Film Festival, 2008 Sao Paulo International Film Festival, 2008 Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles, 2009 Asiatica Film Mediale, 2009 IDPA, and the "Silver Lotus Award" for "Best Audiography" at the 56th National Film Awards.
Recently the film Qué tan lejos by Cuenca's Tania Hermida was highly acclaimed, receiving the Silver Zenith Award Montreal World Film Festival for the best directorial debut.
In 1994 his first feature film Cross My Heart and Hope to Die was a box-office success in Norway, and became an international festival hit, winning the Prix de Montreal at the Montreal World Film Festival and the Blue Angel Award at the 45th Berlin International Film Festival.
His film The Skateboarder premiered at the 2005 Montreal World Film Festival and was shown at the 2005 Ottawa International Animation Festival and the prestigious 2006 Annecy International Animation Film Festival (Festival International du Film d'Animation d'Annecy) in Annecy, France.
