The villagers originally settled into what is now a part of Moremi Game Reserve but were forcibly removed by the Government of Botswana.

Khwai a small village of approximately 400 BaBukakhwe or River Bushmen located just outside of Moremi Game Reserve in Northern Botswana.

Of these Okavango is the largest and best-known, being mostly within the Moremi Game Reserve, having spectacular wildlife and a well-developed safari industry based in the town of Maun.
