In July 1841 Hryhory Yakhymovych was appointed by Pope Gregory VI as auxiliary bishop of the Ukrainian Catholic Archeparchy of Lviv and consecrated as bishop on 21 November 1841 in Lviv by Metropolitan Mykhajlo Levitsky.
