López won the 2006 Desafío Corona (now NASCAR Corona Series) championship, and went to the United States to drive the #03 Telmex/Lucas Oil Dodge in the NASCAR Grand National Division, Busch East Series for the 2007 season.
He then worked with FitzBradshaw as crew chief on the #12 and #22 Dodge Chargers driven in the The NASCAR Grand National Division, Busch East Series by 2006 ROTY Ruben Pardo and John Freeman.
