The kanji characters for Ayashi are the same characters as in the name Aiko given to the daughter of the Crown Prince of Japan.
After her death at the palace in 1951, the site of the palace was converted to the Crown Prince's residence Tōgū Palace which is now used by Crown Prince Naruhito and his family.

Following the First World War, parades of the regiment became fewer, although it did provide guards when the Crown Prince of Japan and Faisal of Iraq visited Blair Castle in 1921 and 1933 respectively.
The event's joint patrons were the Prince of Wales and the Crown Prince of Japan.
In 1973 he performed in the welcoming ceremony for the Japan's Crown Prince Naruhito and the Crown Princess Michiko held by Royal Family of Spain at Alcázar of Seville.
