7 unusual facts about National Day Parade


Electrico

Electrico wrote the theme song What Do You See? for the Singapore National Day Parade, 2009, held on 9 August 2009 at The Float at Marina Bay to commemorate Singapore's 44th year of independence, and performed the song at the event.

National Day Parade, 2006

The fireworks are launched 200 metres away from the stadium, where Nicoll Highway and Mountbatten Road will be closed during the fireworks ceremony.

National Day Parade, 2009

Since the parade is held by the bay, waterways in the bay was out of bounds to the usual sea craft and bumboats ferrying tourists along Singapore River.

The marching contingents took a route around the Esplanade and passed by landmarks like the Merlion, the Old Supreme Court and the City Hall.

The Singapore Armed Forces' new military acquisitions was part of the parade's opening segment, with its Sikorsky S-70B Seahawks and HIMARS being featured.

2012 in Singapore

9 August – Singapore celebrates its 47th (XLVII) national day with her NDP 2012 held at the Float at Marina Bay and it was the very first National Day Parade for Dr Tony Tan Keng Yam as President of the Republic Of Singapore.
