National Master Hugh Myers called it "Millard's Opening" after Henry Millard (1824–91), a blind correspondence chess player who drew with the opening in a simultaneous exhibition against Joseph Henry Blackburne.
Her titles include National Master (1994); Woman International Master (1989); New England Women's Champion (1988); and United States Women's Champion (1995, shared with Anjelina Belakovskaia).
His father has a black belt in Judo under Vladimir Nevzorov and Petr Butryi, and is also a Sambo Ukrainian National Champion and national master of sports in Freestyle Wrestling.
As a chess player, he holds the USCF title of National Master and Life Master, and the FIDE title of FIDE Master.
