From 1948-1950, Stroop served as Executive Officer at the Navy's General Line School in Monterey, California, then again took up his own studies as a student at the National War College at Washington, D.C., in 1950-1951.

After returning home, Cherry attended the National War College, and was assigned to the Defense Intelligence Agency, retiring from the Air Force with over 30 years of service on 1 September 1981.
In the late 1940s he had duty in the Strategic Plans Section of the office of the Chief of Naval Operations and served as an assistant to United States Secretary of Defense James V. Forrestal and hus successor Louis A. Johnson, and then was student at the National War College.
Kinnan’s military education includes the United States Air Force Academy (USAFA) in Colorado Springs, Colorado (Class of 1970); Distinguished Graduate Air Force Squadron Officers School in 1974, Air Command and Staff College in 1976, Armed Forces Staff College in 1981, Distinguished Graduate National War College in 1990, Joint Force Air Component Commander Course in 1995 and Joint Flag Officer Warfighting Course in 1997.
Ambassador Brownfield is a graduate of St. Andrew's School (1970), Cornell University (1974) and the National War College (1993); he also attended the University of Texas School of Law (1976–1978).
