He was elected to the Nevada State Senate in 2012 to represent Senate District 11 which encompasses portions of the Las Vegas Valley including portions of the communities of Spring Valley and Enterprise.
He was elected to the Nevada State Senate in 2010 to represent Washoe Senate District 4, later renamed Senate District 16, which encompasses portions of Reno, Pleasant Valley, Incline Village, New Washoe City, and Carson City.
His daughter, Lori Lipman Brown is a former member of the Nevada State Senate, former director of the Secular Coalition for America, and co-mentor (with Mel Lipman) of the Humanist Institute class of 2012.
