The 65th New York Film Critics Circle Awards, honoring the best in film for 1999, were given in December 1999 by the New York Film Critics Circle.
Dean Stockwell was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor, and won awards in the same category from the National Society of Film Critics and the New York Film Critics Circle, both of which were also in honour of his work in Tucker: The Man and His Dream (1988).
Lucas also played Shirley MacLaine's daughter in the 1977 film The Turning Point, and was nominated for the New York Film Critics Circle Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Jill Clayburgh's daughter in the award-winning 1978 film An Unmarried Woman.
