Knowing the rift and weakness of the revolt, the Ming took the initiative to attack Thanh Hóa and Nghệ An in 1413.
It originates from Houa peak at 2062 m near Xam Neua town, Houaphanh Province in eastern Laos and travels east to meander through Nghệ An and Thanh Hóa provinces of Vietnam.
Tai Mène appears to be related to Tai Pao (paaw 4 < *baaw A), whose speakers claim to have originated from Tương Dương District, Nghệ An province, Vietnam (Chamberlain 1991).
