Bad Wiessee is notorious as the scene of the key events within the Night of the Long Knives, 30 June 1934, when Hitler and the Schutzstaffel (SS) purged the leadership of the Sturmabteilung (SA), many of whom were staying at the resort.
A personality figure of SA leader Ernst Röhm was dropped from the line after he was executed during the so-called "Night of the Long Knives" (a purge of the socialist wing of the Nazi party) in 1934.
Kurt Gildisch was arrested and after a case at the Berlin court convicted in May 1953 of the murder of Dr. Erich Klausener during the Night of the Long Knives.
