As one of the leading Ibadan politician of his time, he championed the cause of the NCNC led by Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe.
While involved in his practice, he developed an interest in the Zikist Movement (named after Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe), a militant wing of the NCNC.
The next year, he traveled to Lagos, Nigeria, where he celebrated the inauguration of his classmate, Nnamdi Azikiwe as Governor General.
