Andrews (first name pronounced SER CEE) was born in Lubbock to Curcy Andrews, Sr., originally from Honey Grove in Fannin County in northeast Texas, and the former Ollie Lee Townsend (1907–1993), who grew up on a ranch in Plains near Brownfield in West Texas.
It consists of 27,690 acres (112 km²), situated in Wood and Rains County in Northeast Texas, between the towns of Quitman, Alba, Emory, and Yantis, Texas.
Lamar County, in northeast Texas, and Lamar, a small unincorporated community in Aransas County on the Texas Gulf Coast, are both named for Mirabeau Lamar.
