Baseball in Canada

The Vancouver Canadians, currently an affiliate of the Blue Jays, play in the Northwest League at the Short-Season A level.

Guy Hansen

He has also been a scout (1981–87), and the pitching coach for several of Kansas City's farm teams, including the Eugene Emeralds of the Northwest League (1987–98), the Memphis Chicks of the Southern League (1989–90), and the Omaha Royals, then of the American Association (1991).

Nat Bailey Stadium

Scotiabank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium (known as "The Nat" and commonly by its previous name Nat Bailey Stadium) is home to the Vancouver Canadians of the Northwest League in the summer and the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds in the spring.

The following season, a second incarnation of the Canadians began playing in the short-season Class A Northwest League.

Vince Genna Stadium

It was the longtime home of Bend minor league baseball teams playing in the Northwest League (most recently the Bend Bandits) and the Western Baseball League.


P. J. Carey

From 1976 through 1979, Carey coached on Phillies' farm teams before launching his managerial career in 1980 with the Bend Phillies of the Short Season-A Northwest League.

Rogelio Álvarez

During the next season, Álvarez split his playing time between the Class-B Wenatchee Chiefs of the Northwest League and the Class-B Clovis Redlegs of the Southwestern League.

Western International League

In 1955, it changed its name to the Northwest League, and still operates today as a Short Season A loop under that name.
