Adolf Ax (23 June 1906, Mouscron – 6 February 1983) was a German SS-Oberführer (Senior Colonel/Brigadier General), who was decorated with Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross (9 May 1945).
The World War II rank of Commodore existed in a grey zone of seniority, very similar to the Schutzstaffel (S.S.) rank of Oberführer.

In a letter dated January 29, 1943 by SS-Sturmbannführer Bischoff to SS-Oberführer Hans Kammler, Bischoff refers to basement morgue 1 of Crematorium II at Auschwitz as a "Vergasungskeller", literally "gassing cellar".
