History of Republika Srpska

As a result of Operation Storm, nearly 200,000 Serbs fled from Croatia and a large portion of them found refuge in Bosnia (especially in Republika Srpska).


Grmovac

Origins of Grmovac (Serbian for 'bushy place') date from 1996/7 when the Zemun's municipal leadership (ruled by the Serbian Radical Party and headed by Vojislav Šešelj) decided to sell empty lots on a barren meadow to the refugees from Croatia which were forced out after the Operation Storm in 1995.

Tajbeg Palace

That evening, the Soviet military launched Operation Storm-333, in which some 700 troops, including 54 KGB spetsnaz special forces troops from the Alpha Group and Zenith Group, stormed the Palace and killed President Hafizullah Amin, who resided there.

Tesla's Letters

The play takes place in 1997, two years after Operation Storm and the Dayton Agreement and two years prior to the start of the Kosovo War and the US-led 1999 NATO bombing of Yugoslavia, with the scenes set at the Nikola Tesla Museum in the Serbian capital, Belgrade, on a bus at the Serbian-Croatian border, and at Tesla's birthplace in the Croatian village of Smiljan.
