The Communist Yugoslavian government awarded the Order of the National Hero to eight separate Hero Cities of Yugoslavia (grad heroj in Serbian/Croatian): Belgrade, Zagreb, Ljubljana, Novi Sad, Prilep, Pristina, Titov Drvar, Cetinje.
During the war, 27 pilots became casualties, of whom 10 were killed, including the Squadron Commander and both Flight Commanders, and Franjo Kluz, first partisan pilot and national hero of Yugoslavia.
The album was notable for featuring Yugoslav national hero and Central Committee member Svetozar Vukmanović-Tempo singing the Partizan song "Padaj silo" at the beginning of "Pljuni i zapjevaj moja Jugoslavijo".
Due to being executed by shooting in Maribor as a hostage during World War II he was proclaimed the National Hero of Yugoslavia on October 25, 1943.
