Sir Timothy Shelley, 2nd Baronet of Castle Goring MA (Oxon.) (7 September 1753 – 24 April 1844) was the son of Sir Bysshe Shelley, 1st Baronet of Castle Goring and the father of Romantic poet and dramatist Percy Bysshe Shelley.

He went to University College, Oxford (University of Oxford), where he was awarded a BA Honours (MA) degree in Modern History, the B.Litt., and the BCL.
Born in 1949, he was educated at Eton College, where he was a scholar, at Jesus College, Cambridge, where he took first-class honours in 1969, and at Balliol College, Oxford, where he took first-class honours in Literae Humaniores in 1971 (BA and hence subsequently MA) and a DPhil in 1978 with a thesis entitled Maussollos of Karia.
