The area covered by this geographical indication comprises the municipalities of Catoira, Valga, Pontecesures, Padrón, Dodro, Rianxo, Boiro, A Pobra do Caramiñal, Ribeira and some parts of Porto do Son and Lousame, located in the provinces of A Coruña and Pontevedra, in Galicia, Spain.
Padron took over the starting quarterback job at SMU in the eighth game of his freshman season in 2009, replacing Bo Levi Mitchell, who also transferred to Eastern Washington in 2010.
These peppers are grown along the banks of the river Ulla and its tributary Sar, especially in the greenhouses of the municipality of Padrón, hence the name.
Jose Orlando Padrón was born in 1926 in Cuba and grew up near the Pinar del Río region, famed for its tobacco.
In 1990, adventurer and publisher, Thor Heyerdahl, became aware of the "Canarian Pyramids" by reading an article written by Francisco Padrón in the Tenerife newspaper "Diario de Avisos" detailing "real pyramids on the Canaries".
