In his career, until now, he played with Serbian clubs FK Mladost Lučani, Red Star Belgrade, FK Vojvodina, FK Borac Čačak, FK Radnički Obrenovac, FK Sevojno, FK Novi Pazar, FK Sloga Bajina Bašta and FK FAP, but also abroad, with Spanish Albacete Balompié, Greek Panionios F.C. and Bosnian FK Drina Zvornik.
AEK Athens, is the only winner of the League Cup, by beating Panionios (3-3 and 4-2 on penalties), Aris (5-2), Levadiakos (0-0 and 1-0) and Olympiacos (3-2 at the final of the Athens Olympic Stadium, on June 2, 1990).
Born in Istiaia, Euboea, Chaitas played football for Panionios from 1958 until 1977 with a brief interlude in 1974–1975 season when he played for Larissa.
Aged 27, he signed with Cercle Brugge KSV, but did not receive regular playing time, subsequently trying another abroad spell, and being equally unsuccessful for Sporting de Braga, Panionios FC, FC Lugano and Sporting Toulon Var (the latter in the French second division).
