Knox was one of six justices of the High Court to have served in the Parliament of New South Wales, along with Edmund Barton, Richard O'Connor, Albert Piddington, Edward McTiernan and H. V. Evatt.
In June 2005, concern was expressed in the New South Wales Parliament about Singh's employment with the Cabramatta Community Centre.
After leaving the Council, he continued to be active in the community; on 1 January 2001 he was awarded the Centenary Medal for services to migrant welfare, and on 9 June 2003 he was made a Member of the Order of Australia for service to the Parliament of New South Wales and the Fairfield community.
Ron Hoenig (born 21 April 1953) is an Australian barrister who served as Mayor of the City of Botany Bay in New South Wales from 1981 to 2012, a record 31 years, before standing down and winning the 25 August Heffron by-election in state parliament for the Australian Labor Party.
