He started his playing career with Ugandan side SC Villa in 2003, having graduated from high school, and he made 45 appearances for the side, before switching to other Ugandan side Police in 2006.

Following limited on field play during the 2010 season (only one match), Kim joined R-League side Police FC to comply with his two year military service obligations.
Born in Kampala, Uganda, Obua played for a number of clubs in his native Uganda including Police FC.
