Bacup and Rawtenstall Grammar School

The current headmaster is Alan Porteous (Headmaster from 2012–present) who replaced the former headmaster, Marc Morris (who joined the school in April 2005, replacing the retiring Martyn Morris (not related) and moved to Hong Kong in December 2011 where he took the position of headteacher at Sha Tin College)

David Porteous

In 2010, Porteous released a music project entitled Twelve Months, whereby he dared himself to write and record an EP a month for an entire year straight, starting on his 25th birthday.

Fresno scraper

In perfecting the design of his machine, Porteous made several revisions on his own and also traded ideas with William Deidrick, Frank Dusy, and Abijah McCall, who invented and held patents on similar scrapers.

Garrick Porteous

Porteous played on the golf team at the University of Tennessee where he earned all-conference and all-region honors.

Shane Porteous

Shane Porteous has also provided animation services to Hanna-Barbera, and has created layouts for the film versions of "The Magic Pudding" and "Blinky Bill".

Shane Porteous is best known for playing original character Dr Terence Elliott in the television drama series A Country Practice during its twelve-year run on the Seven Network 1981-93, a role for which he won the coveted Silver Logie in 1992.

Skipp Porteous

In 2007, following his own investigation, Porteous claimed to have unmasked a former paratrooper and airline employee as being missing aircraft hijacker D. B. Cooper.

Porteous closed in 1996 and was replaced with a two-level structure, containing a Filene's Home Store on the lower level, with Sports Authority on the upper level.
