Also included is a 3" audio CD containing two versions of the song “Pink Mammoth” (a major key reworking of the Untitled EP track “Mammoth”) — one of which features all the members of Seattle group These Arms Are Snakes — and “End of Seasons,” a Prefuse 73 remix medley of “Aurora Borealis,” and the untitled track from The Fire in Our Throats Will Beckon the Thaw.
His work (the same tracks that were rejected by the club-goers of Chicago) found their way into the hands of Scott Herren (Warp Records) and Savath+Savalas (Hefty Records), or better known as Prefuse 73.
Perhacs also sang backing vocals on "Freely" from Devendra Banhart's Smokey Rolls Down Thunder Canyon and features in Prefuse 73's track "Rain Edit" (Interlude) from the album Surrounded by Silence.
Prefuse 73 said in an interview with Dazed & Confused "John Stanier from Battles had told me that they were sick. They start to play. Next thing you know, these three tiny diminutive women were making us look like idiots because they were so incredible".
Preparations is the fourth full-length album by Prefuse 73, released on October 23, 2007 on Warp Records (see 2007 in music).
