3 unusual facts about Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry

McMillan Tac-50

Two Canadian snipers of the same Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry (PPCLI) regiment sniper team made at the time the longest recorded sniper kills in history with this weapon in Afghanistan, during Operation Anaconda, in the Shah-i-Kot Valley.

It must also be mentioned that just prior to Cpl. Rob Furlong longest recorded sniper kill M. Cpl. Arron Perry recorded the second longest recorded sniper kill in history from 2,310 meters (2.31km/1.44 miles) with a McMillan Tac-50 which in itself is remarkable considering that both snipers belonged to the same Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry (PPCLI) sniper cell.

Rionero in Vulture

Two days later on September 26, patrols from the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry attached to the 1st Canadian Infantry Division entered Rionero and the neighboring town of Barile unopposed.

Francis Joseph Sherman

When World War I broke out in 1914, Sherman left his bank position, enrolling with the Officers' Training Corps at McGill University, and then enlisting as a private for reinforcements of Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry in 1915.

Operation Anaconda

The record for the longest combat kill by a sniper was set during Operation Anaconda by Canadian Army sniper Corporal Rob Furlong of the 3rd Battalion Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry and held for seven years until surpassed in 2009.
