A cinema projection room was built in at the northern end in the 1920s and a screen erected in front of the proscenium so that the building could be used as a picture theatre.

Khattar grew up Cinema Paradiso style, watching back to back films each day in the projection booth of his legendary grandfather Tirath Ram Amla’s Cinema (Broadway) in Kashmir.
The only known copy of this film was rediscovered in 1999 on the floor of the projection booth in a Superior, Montana movie theater.
