The only freshman on the Proviso East High School varsity baseball team, Grove's pitching ability attracted the attention of the White Sox.
The campus houses District 209 administration offices which were formerly located at Proviso East High School.

As there are no sports facilities at the Academy, students play sports at either Proviso East or Proviso West.
