The group is best known for its MTV hit "Belly of the Whale", the music for which blends a rather unique fusion of rock and calypso styles, and for covering the Jonathan Richman song "Pablo Picasso", which was included in both the 1984 film and soundtrack of director Alex Cox's Repo Man starring Harry Dean Stanton and Emilio Estevez.
Another song from the album, "Coup d'État", was used in the soundtrack of Alex Cox's early film Repo Man, and the band made an appearance in the film, playing an acoustic lounge version of "When the Shit Hits the Fan," featuring new members Chuck Biscuits (formerly of Black Flag and D.O.A.) on drums and Earl Liberty (formerly of Saccharine Trust) on bass.
Olson has been involved with several other projects, including Repo Man starring Emilio Estevez, The Hidden starring Kyle MacLachlan, Rapid Fire starring Brandon Lee and Peter Berg's The Rundown starring Dwayne Johnson, Seann William Scott, Christopher Walken and Rosario Dawson.
Having appeared briefly in Repo Man and Sid and Nancy, Sandoval has also played the major roles of Treviranus (in Death and the Compass) and Bennie Reyes (in Three Businessmen) for director Alex Cox.
He is perhaps best known as a regular in the films of Alex Cox, having appeared in Repo Man, Sid and Nancy, Straight to Hell, Walker, The Winner and Searchers 2.0.
In the 'Action Comics #822' story titled 'Repo Man; part one', Dorrance is designated as the location of Smallville, of Superman fame.
