From 1997 Agim Hushi pursued his career in Australia where he was invited to sing first, the role of Des Grieux in Puccini’s Manon Lescaut, for the South Australian State Opera in Adelaide under the baton of maestro Richard Bonynge who said: "In my entire experience working with Agim Hushi has been a wonderful discovery. Agim Hushi and Laura Niculescu are the best cast in the world today".
In addition to some of the standard operatic repertory over the years, a recent concert performances which has drawn attention to the Group has been Donizetti's rarely performed Belisario (written in 1836), which starred Nelly Miricioiu under conductor Richard Bonynge and was given at Queen Elizabeth Hall on 13 February 2011.
He made his Metropolitan Opera debut in 1976 opposite Joan Sutherland as Riccardo in I Puritani having previously sung with her on a number of occasions which included being invited to Australia by Richard Bonynge to tour with his wife.
He has worked with leading exponents of Italian opera such as Dame Joan Sutherland and conductor Richard Bonynge on articles to accompany their recordings for Decca Records.
She performed at the United Nations General Assembly in an Australian Government sponsored concert in aid of UNICEF, in association with Dame Joan Sutherland and Richard Bonynge.
