Ringwood North has its own shopping centre and also has plenty of parklands and reserves nearby without being excessively rural, like Wonga Park or Warrandyte.

The new municipality contains the former City of Doncaster & Templestowe, but with Ringwood North ceded to the new City of Maroondah and Wonga Park, annexed from the former Shire of Lillydale.
