Old Grendon

The old village of Grendon lies on the north-western tip of Warwickshire, divided from Leicestershire by a small stream and by the River Anker.

Polesworth

The poet Michael Drayton was in the service of the Goodere family around 1580, and his works contain allusions to Polesworth and the River Anker (Brink, 1990).

Shuttington

The River Anker flows through the parish, with Shuttington north-east of the river, and Alvecote south of it.


River Tweed, Leicestershire

The river meanders gently through the West Leicestershire flood plains, passing near the villages of Dadlington, Shenton, Sibson and to Ratcliffe Culey where it flows into the River Sence and thenceforth into the River Anker, itself a tributary of the River Trent.
