The two platoons withdrew in February/March (not sure anymore)Operation Savannah during the Angolan Civil War In July of 1975 when 1 string of 1 Parachute Battalion were flown to Ondangwa and travel by Unimog to Ruancana on the northern border of SWA at Ruacana and Santa Clara in Angola to relieve two Portuguese communities trapped by the MPLA.
He served as Deputy Commander, Joint Task Force Southwest Asia (JTF-SWA) and Combined Air Operations Center Director at Prince Sultan Air Base, Saudi Arabia, from November 2001 through March 2002 during Operation Enduring Freedom.
His Decorations include 3 Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals (NMCM), 3 Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals (NCAM), 6 Good Conduct Medal (GCM), National Defense Service Medal (NDSM), Southwest Asia Service Medal (SWA) with three stars for service in three campaigns (Defense of Saudi Arabia, Liberation and Defense of Kuwait, Southwest Asia Cease-Fire), Kuwait Liberation Medal (KLM — Saudi Arabia), Kuwait Liberation Medal (KLM — Emirate of Kuwait).
A supergroup of SST alumni that mixed jazz and hard rock mainly as an instrumental vehicle, the band included Chuck Dukowski (SWA, ex-Black Flag) on bass and vocals, Greg Ginn (Black Flag) on guitar, Greg Cameron (SWA) on drums, Joe Baiza (Saccharine Trust) on guitar, and Tom Troccoli (Tom Troccoli's Dog and Black Flag roadie) on blues harp and vocals.
