In Saga of a Star World, he was one of the three recipients (Apollo and Starbuck being the other two) of the Golden Star Cluster, the highest military honor that could be awarded to Colonial Service warriors (similar to the Medal of Honor for the real-world United States armed forces).
John was nominated twice for Emmy Awards, in 1979 for Outstanding Art Direction for a Series: Battlestar Galactica episode "Saga of a Star World" together with others, and in 1981 for Outstanding Art Direction for a Series: Dynasty premiere episode(#1): "Oil" also together with others.
All of the Council members seen in "Saga of a Star World" have been replaced by the time of "Baltar's Escape" wherein the entire Council is captured in the Galactica landing bay while greeting representatives of the Eastern Alliance.
