Saints Mael and Sulien are said to have been companions of the Breton Saint Cadfan (ca. 530-ca. 590), who led a group of missionaries to Western Wales with Saint Tydecho, a cousin, and Saint Cynllo, a friend.

According to Enwogion Cymru, Tegai was a saint who lived in the early part of the sixth century He was one of the sons of Ithel Hael, and with his brother Tecwyn accompanied Saint Cadfan from Brittany to Wales and became a member of the college of Bardsey Island.

He was one of the sons of Ithel Hael and he accompanied St Cadvan from Armorica to Wales He was a member of the college of Bardsey and he founded the church of Llandanwg in Ardudwy Merionethshire in which parish is situated the town of Harlech.
