It was released as the album's third single on 24 March 1980 and was written by Trevor Horn, Geoff Downes and Bruce Woolley.

Everybody in Love

The song was also performed on numerous TV shows throughout promotion of the single and the JLS album, including children's TV shows TMi and Blue Peter, daytime shows GMTV and This Morning, plus events such as BBC Switch Live, T4 Stars of 2009 and the annual BBC Children in Need telethon and that year's Christmas edition of Top of the Pops.

Jackie Payne

The success of that single led to a 45-city tour with the Stax revue, which at the time featured headliners like Otis Redding (to whom Payne's voice has sometimes been compared), Sam & Dave, Rufus Thomas, and Carla Thomas.

Mr. Clean

In The Simpsons episode "Bart Gets an Elephant", Homer pours a bottle of "Mr. Cleanser" into a puddle in the basement and begins scrubbing, ignoring the warning to only use the product in a well-ventilated area.

In 1998, Honda Motor Co. created an advertising campaign, including a television commercial, featuring Mr. Clean to represent Honda's clean running Accord along with other Honda products including lawnmowers, string trimmers, motorcycles, and marine engines.

The reason "make mrproper" is used instead of "make mrclean" is because Linus Torvalds, the father of Linux, was familiar with the name "Mr. Proper" as this is the brand widely known in Europe.

Oscar Dertycia

After a relatively unassuming spell, which also included a severe injury, Dertycia moved to Spain, first with Cádiz CF, where he garnered a firm fanbase, being nicknamed Mister Proper due to the bald head he now sported (due to the resulting stress after the injury).

Rhett Harty

The head would stay shaven throughout his MLS career, and Harty quickly became a fan favorite, earning the nickname Mr. Clean.

SCUMM

It allows anyone who's skilled enough to create completely new and original SCUMM games, with features on par with Day of the Tentacle and Sam & Max Hit the Road.

The Ramong Sound was a London based outfit, that featured two black lead singers doing Sam & Dave styled duets, one of them being former professional boxer Clem Curtis, and the other being Raymond Morrison aka Ramong Morrison.

The band's first live show was a support slot for Sam & Dave, and they also supported Jerry Lee Lewis, Ramones, Tom Verlaine and Dead Kennedys.


Big Jay McNeely
