Later, he was successively Commander-in-Chief of the IJN 2nd Fleet, Sasebo Naval District, and the IJN 1st Fleet.
After the war, Nashiba served in a number of staff positions at Yokosuka Naval District and Sasebo Naval District, and was appointed commander of the Mako Guard District.
Promoted to rear admiral from September 1890, Tsuboi was Commander of the Sasebo Naval District to December 1892, Commandant of the Imperial Japanese Naval Academy from 1892–1893, and Commandant of the Naval Staff College from 1893-1894.
He went to work for the Japanese Government Railways in 1920, but volunteers for the Japanese marines at the Imperial Japanese Navy’s Sasebo Naval District in 1924.
