The tournament officially began on the June 19 edition of iMPACT!, with the first match of Round One, Team TNA's The Motor City Machine Guns (Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley) versus Team International's Tyson Dux and Daivari.
Samoa Joe from TNA, Harlem Heat 2000 (Big T and Stevie Ray) from World Championship Wrestling, and Tammy Lynn Sytch, Christy Hemme and Daivari from World Wrestling Entertainment have all made appearances for the promotion as well as older wrestlers such as Abdullah the Butcher, Kamala and "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan, the latter holding the promotion's heavyweight title in 2003.
Jones' VPW wrestling events have received wide acclaim as the best on the British wrestling circuit, with many former WWE wrestlers on the roster including Bob 'Hardcore' Holly, former D-Generation X member The Road Dogg, D'Lo Brown, Chris Masters, Kip James (AKA Billy Gunn), Shawn Daivari and Al Snow.
