2 unusual facts about Sir Robert Grierson, 1st Baronet


Balmaclellan

Amongst other gravestones is that of another Covenanter, Robert Grierson, who was killed for his faith in 1685 (not to be confused with Sir Robert Grierson a notorious persecutor of the Galloway Covenanters).

John Faa

In The Raiders, Faa is placed as a contemporary in south-west Scotland with of Grierson of Lag during the Killing Times, while in His Dark Materials he is moved to southern England in an alternate, somewhat Steampunk universe into a time which is apparently contemporary with our own.


Bridgeman baronets

The Bridgeman Baronetcy, of Ridley in the County of Chester, was created on 12 November 1773 for Orlando Bridgeman, Member of Parliament for Horsham and younger son of the 1st Baronet, of the Great Lever creation.
