Apart from the parish of East Barnet, the local board's area included parts of the surrounding parishes of Chipping Barnet in Hertfordshire and Enfield, Monken Hadley and South Mimms in Middlesex.

There is one armorial monumental inscription in the floor of the church, the grave of John Howkins (1579-1678), a wealthy lawyer who owned the estate of Pinchbank in South Mimms, Middlesex.
