Boisdale, Victoria

Boisdale was the run of pioneer grazier Lachlan Macalister and was named after the village on the island of South Uist in the Outer Hebrides, Scotland.

Jacques MacDonald

His father, Neil MacEachen, later MacDonald, came from a Jacobite family from Howbeg in South Uist, in the west of Scotland.

Maffra

The town began as an outstation of the region's first cattle run, Boisdale, named by pioneer grazier Lachlan Macalister after a village on the island of South Uist in the Outer Hebrides, Scotland.

The Dark Island

It was set on the Outer Hebridean island of Benbecula, though the majority of the series was filmed on South Uist.
