He left Stockport at the end of the 1997-98 season, signing for non-league Barrow, and later returning to play a game for his former club Southport.
On 11 August 2012, Disley scored the opening goal of the season for Grimsby in the 1–1 draw against Southport on 74 minutes, an Aswad Thomas cross from the left by-line was parried by goalkeeper McMillan straight into the path of Disley, scoring from close range.
As well as having a spell in Hong Kong with Sing Tao he has played at a Non-league level for Weymouth, Southport, Burscough and Northwich Victoria before moving into management with the two latter clubs, as well as having a spell in charge of Chorley.
At the end of 1966–67, the "Magpies" finished just above the re-election positions, and accepted a £2,000 bid for Harkin from Southport, newly promoted to the Third Division.
