St Kilda Beach, Victoria

In 1911, the electric tram route to Malvern along Carlisle Street was completed, and the route was extended to Kew in 1913.

The pier has a long breakwater which shelters St Kilda Harbour and hosts a Little Penguin colony.


2007 World Aquatics Championships

The competition took place at three locations in central Melbourne: the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre (diving and water polo), St Kilda Beach (open water), and Rod Laver Arena in a temporary pool christened the Susie O'Neill Pool (synchro and swimming).
