William B. Smiley (born in 1856 in Baltimore, Maryland – died July 11, 1884 in Baltimore, Maryland) was a professional baseball player who primarily played second base in the American Association for the St. Louis Brown Stockings and the Baltimore Orioles for one season in 1882.
Crotty played from 1882–1886 in the American Association for the Louisville Eclipses, St. Louis Brown Stockings, and New York Metropolitans and for the Cincinnati Outlaw Reds in the Union Association.
His playing career began in 1877 with the St. Louis Brown Stockings of the National League, but he only played in nine career games in 1877 and 1883 as an outfielder.
