Iolani ended the 2012 season winning their 8th consecutive Interscholastic League of Honolulu Division II title (second in consecutive league titles behind Cal Lee's St. Louis Crusaders, who won 16 consecutive ILH titles between 1986 and 2001) and a 6th consecutive state Division II title (8th overall).
Born in Waipahu, Hawai'i, Chang attended St. Louis School in Honolulu and was an honors student and a three-year letterman in football and basketball.
