On 1 January 2014 the former municipalities of Niederstocken, Oberstocken and Höfen merged into the new municipality of Stocken-Höfen.

The neighboring municipalities starting from the north in a clockwise direction are: Höfen, Niederstocken, Erlenbach im Simmental, Därstetten and Pohlern.
Lake Uebeschi after which the village is named lies several hundred metres to the south, however a greater part of it belongs to the neighbouring municipalities of Amsoldingen and Höfen.
