Halesowen Harriers F.C. was founded by Derek Beasley and formed in 1961 as a Sunday league team, although as local laws at the time prohibited football from being played on Sundays, the team had to play all their matches away from home.

Originally formed as the Sunday league team of the King's Arms pub in the Meir district, the club was later based in the neighbouring area of Meir Heath.
The club was founded on 15 May 1981 as a Sunday league team and is affiliate number 22 to the Portuguese club Sport Lisboa e Benfica.
