Nokes was a member of Test Valley Borough Council from 1999 until 2010, when she was elected as a Councillor for the Romsey Extra Ward, serving as the Leisure Portfolio Holder.
Perry graduated from the University of Exeter with a degree in Government and Politics and was formerly a senior lecturer in Politics before entering the profession himself as a member of Test Valley Borough Council from 1979 to 1994.

During the 19th and early 20th centuries, the species was recorded from single sites in Somerset, Sussex and Kent, and a second Hampshire site (in the upper Test Valley).
