Salusbury baronets

The family also has the distinction of having had William Shakespeare dedicate a major poem, The Phoenix and the Turtle, to the loving relationship that John Salusbury, the father of the first baronet, had with his wife Ursula.

Spelling of Shakespeare's name

The name printed at the end of the poem The Phoenix and the Turtle, which was published in a collection of verse in 1601, is hyphenated, as is the name on the title page of Shake-speares Sonnets (1609).


Edward Blount

In 1601 he published Robert Chester's Love's Martyr, the volume that contained The Phoenix and the Turtle; he entered both Antony and Cleopatra and Pericles, Prince of Tyre in the Stationers' Register in 1608, though he published neither.
